This scenic property is located on top of a hill on the side of Cerro Gordo Mountain overlooking Dorena Lake on the east, and the Row River and Valley to the west, surrounded by panoramic mountain views in all directions.

The Farm: Biodiversity is abundant about this farm. A combination of hill, rock, forest, pastoral areas and natural drainage provide a vast variety of native wildflowers, herbs, berries, birds, pollinators, and wildlife. With a low carbon footprint, we farm mostly by hand and live in a conscious effort to reduce, reuse, recycle, replant and grow what we need to live on, collaborating with our community, local farmers and businesses.

The farm projects for 2010 include sustainable forest and farm land management practices with the help of community and WWOOFer volunteers. In trade, we educate, grow, share and sell (non-certified) purely organic vegetables, fruits and herbs. We include fresh food preservation, cooking, making wine and meade as part of our farming agenda. Additionally we will be supporting our local Community Sharing food bank with donations and volunteer time.

We are in the beginning stages of terracing a vineyard and orchard planting. We have goats and chickens and bees that also help with farming operations such as weed and insect control, egg sales and pollination.

Lastly we will be “green” building this year an outdoor kitchen, garage, greenhouse and chicken house from mostly recycled materials and lumber from our farm.

Produce sales this year will be at local farmer’s market(s), Cottage Grove (Wednesdays), Eugene – South Willamette (Saturdays) and as our first year being a CSA.

The Farmers:

Pat aka “Pato” has been in construction and alternative energy for the last 30 years. He has always been into sustainable living and is passionate about saving the world. He enjoys riding his bike, the peace demonstration, playing golf, preserving food, making wine and meade, reading, talking and playing the harmonica.

Margaret aka “Peco” has a degree in Horticultural Therapy and hopes to make the farm a place where people with special needs can benefit from gardening and being in nature. She believes in healing through nature. She hopes to expand the gardens each year with more medicinal and culinary herbs, cut flowers, and diverse veggies.

We will be on the Row River Valley Farm Tour this summer.
