August 2010 brought food safety in sharp relief to Oregon and in fact the entire US when salmonella outbreak caused over one million eggs to be recalled. Later a local Oregon dairy found the dangerous bacteria on the outside of their milk jugs. These dangers exist everywhere across the world, but it is only en mass when coupled with large food packaging and distribution chains.
